Jacqui Vance
Jacqui
graduated from the University of Ulster with an Honours degree in Music in
1988. Since that time she has been involved in education, mainly teaching
in the 11 - 16 sectors where for 10 years she was Head of Music in Newtownbreda
High School.
During that time, she was musical director for many shows including Little Shop of Horrors, Annie and Joseph.
Latterly, the school choir was extremely successful in winning the South Eastern heats of UTV School Choir of the Year two years in a row and consequently representing the Board in the provincial finals.
In her spare time Jacqui has been involved with many local musical operatic companies as both pianist and Musical Director, in particular Seven Brides for Seven Brothers with the First Act Musical Company.
In addition, Jacqui is conductor of the Youth Chorale, accompanist & assistant conductor of the Belfast Chorale (both from the Belfast School of Music).
Her first involvement with the New Lyric was in 2000 when, at short notice, she directed the music of the Christmas show in the ntl: Studio at the Waterfront. She was appointed Musical Director of the New Lyric in September 2001.
