Peter Burke
Peter's
inception with the New Lyric was playing the lead in Viva
Mexico. His association with the company continued with roles in Orpheus
in the Underworld, White Horse Inn, Oklahoma!,
Hello Dolly!, The Merry Widow,
Guys and Dolls,
Hot Mikado and
The Pirates of Penzance.
For over a decade, he has been a co-ordinator with "The Sky's the Limit", a drama group for young people with special needs. They have been nominated for the Regional Oscars Awards ceremony organised by Northern Ireland Music Therapy, for their contribution to music and drama.
Peter performs regularly with his home company, St. Agnes's Choral Society, with whom he has performed several times in the Grand Opera House.
Among his awards he numbers Best Comedian at Waterford Light Opera Festival,
the Adjudicator's Special Certificate for his performance in Orpheus at the
Northern Ireland Festival of Light Opera, and the 2001 Best Comedian in the
AIMS/First Active Awards Scheme for his characterisation of Major-General
Stanley in The Pirates of
Penzance.
