Richard Gaston

Richard Gaston Richard is usually typecast as either an upper-class twit or as a bit of a nerd, so he was delighted to be cast as Ali Hakim in Oklahoma! - a role that stretched his acting talents to new heights! It also earned him a nomination for Best Comedian in the 2005 AIMS Awards.

Favourite parts include Sir Evelyn Oakley in Anything Goes (Ulster Operatic Company and Lisnagarvey Operatic Society), Roscoe Dexter in Singin' in the Rain, and almost fifty performances as Eugene in Grease.

Previous roles with New Lyric include Jamie in My Fair Lady, and Ko-Ko in our 1997 and 2002 productions of Hot Mikado.

He milked a 2-minute cameo role for all it was worth in Ulster Operatic's 2004 production of West Side Story.

Richard slipped rather too comfortably into a pair of tights to play the panto dame for five years with Lisnagarvey between 1993 and 1997. The tights came out of retirement when he played the dame once more in their 2004 Christmas panto, Sleeping Beauty. Apparently, he looks quite attractive as a woman.
