Wendy Mairs - Choreographer
Wendy
trained in dance from the age of six and has been involved in musical theatre
since 1980 as a performer, producer and choreographer.
She has played numerous principal roles over the years, favourites including Miss Adelaide (Guys & Dolls), Anytime Annie (42nd Street), Yente (Fiddler on the Roof), Lina Lamont (Singing in the Rain) and has performed in shows and concerts at the Grand Opera House, Ulster Hall, Waterfront Hall and National Concert Hall Dublin.
Over the last 15 years, Wendy has worked as a choregrapher throughout Ireland on shows like Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Die Fledermaus, Kiss Me Kate, Annie Get Your Gun, The Pirates of Penzance and Hot Mikado to name a few.
She also produced and choreographed Joseph and The Wizard of Oz on ice at Dundonald Ice Bowl.
Wendy was joint winner of the Adjudicator's Award at the 1987 Waterford International Festival and has received six nominations from the Association of Musical Societies (AIMS) in recent years, winning Best Comedienne when she guested with NLOC to play Miss Adelaide in the 1996 production of Guys & Dolls.
In 1999, she won the Adjudicators Award for choreography of the Ballet in The King and I and she has been runner-up for Best Choreographer four times.
She was nominated for Best Choreography for Oklahoma! in the 2005 AIMS Awards.
