New Lyric are the Gilbert and Sullivan Champions 2010
"truly phenomenal" - adjudicator
On August 21, we picked up four awards, including Best Overall Show, on our debut at the Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in Buxton, Derbyshire, presenting our Pirates of Penzance (as seen in May at Belfast’s Opera House). We were competing against more than a dozen societies from Britain, plus three in the USA. (No, they don't go to Buxton, the adjudicator goes to them.)
In his post-show report, the adjudicator said, “This is not something I say very often, and haven’t said the entire festival, but this show was truly phenomenal.”
